Training the next generation of endangered language activists and scholars is important to us. In 2021, we welcomed six different intern cohorts working on the Sora language documentation project as well as on the Living Dictionaries platform, several volunteer research assistants as well as a team of phonetics researchers in India, a new web developer and a web development intern. Here are a couple of glimpses of our teams at work!
Sora Annotation Team
Phonetics cohorts in 2021 included Vinny Ong and Cassandra Caragine (summer interns) as well as Kelsey Bialo and Tom Edwards (fall interns). A huge shout-out to our new team of phonetics research assistants in Guwahati, India! Sakshi Singh, Ria Borah Sonowal and Aman Kumar Singha are working closely with Dr. Luke Horo, analyzing Sora acoustic data in Praat.
Research Assistants
Summer 2021 research assistants Ashlie Devenney and Ella Hannon worked with Anna Luisa Daigneault (Living Tongues Program Director) to coordinate interns and conduct quality control on various projects.
